Every creature begins with an idea… and a little bit of latex
My name is Maury Ramirez, but in here, they call me The Madman — the artist behind The Laboratory X.
I’m a creative and detail-obsessed SFX makeup artist, sculptor, and creature designer with over a decade of experience bringing the strange, the surreal, and the grotesquely beautiful to life. My work fuses old-school FX craftsmanship with experimental techniques, transforming unconventional materials into custom prosthetics, skin illusions, and full-blown monsters.
Inside this lab, nothing is ordinary. I specialize in prosthetics, body painting, sculpting, set design, and costume creation — crafting immersive visuals for film, TV, theater, and live events. Every project is an experiment. Every transformation tells a story. And I don’t just build creatures — I educate, collaborate, and mutate ideas into reality.
